How to charge a Foger vape without the battery: five cases
A Foger Switch Pro pod fires on its own 200 mAh cell, but only the power bank recharges it. Five no-battery cases, what works, and charge times.
By Staff, Pod & Coil
According to the fogervapes.com FAQ, a Foger Switch Pro pod “cannot be recharged by itself; it needs the power bank to top up.” Without the dock you can vape the pod briefly on its own 200 mAh cell. With the dock, a USB-C cable and a standard wall adapter charge both, and VapeJuice puts the pod at about 20 minutes.
This is an evergreen how-to, not news. The answer to how to charge a Foger vape without the battery depends on which battery is missing, because the Switch Pro carries two. It rests on two retailer pages this desk read on 15 October 2026: the fogervapes.com FAQ, a seller’s page rather than a Foger specification sheet, and VapeJuice’s charging guide.
How does the Foger Switch Pro battery work?
Two cells in a chain. The fogervapes.com FAQ gives the Switch Pro 1,050 mAh in total: an 850 mAh reusable power bank plus a 200 mAh battery inside each pod. It notes that retailers quote either 850 or 1,050 mAh for what is apparently the same device, and that both are correct because they measure different things. The pod’s cell lets it fire off the dock; the bank is what recharges it.
The pod has no port. VapeJuice says it charges through a magnetic connection to the dock, which is why someone who bought refill pods without the kit finds nothing to plug in. The FAQ adds that the Switch Pro supports pass-through charging, so charging the bank also tops up a seated pod.
This desk’s arithmetic, not a published figure: 850 divided by 200 is 4.25, so a full bank could refill a pod’s cell about four times in theory. Conversion losses in the charging circuit make the real number lower, and neither page states one.
The Foger Bit 35K is a different case. The FAQ calls it a sealed rechargeable disposable with no pod, so there is no separate battery to be without.
How to charge a Foger vape without the battery: five cases
| Situation | What works | What does not |
|---|---|---|
| Pod, no dock | Vaping it briefly on its 200 mAh cell; cooler, lighter vapour (FAQ) | Recharging it: no port, and the FAQ says it needs the power bank |
| Dock with a flat cell | Seat the pod, then charge the dock over USB-C; both charge together (VapeJuice) | Vaping once both cells are flat |
| Dock lost | The pod’s remaining charge, then a replacement power bank (fogervapes.com lists a Switch Pro battery category) | Improvised wiring or substitute cells |
| No cable or adapter | Any decent-quality USB-C cable with a standard phone charger or computer port (FAQ) | A suspect cable: the FAQ says change it first |
| Fast-charge brick | A standard wall adapter instead (FAQ) | A high-wattage fast-charging brick, which a small vape battery “cannot use” (FAQ) |
The FAQ’s reason is heat. It also warns the other way, that a computer port, car socket or old phone charger often cannot supply enough current, so a device that trickles or stops partway may be underfed rather than broken.
How long does a Foger vape take to charge?
VapeJuice gives Switch Pro times: a little under an hour for the dock from a USB source, around 20 minutes for the pod through the dock, and a little over an hour for both from flat. The dock’s display counts up to 100 as it charges, and a lightning-bolt icon shows while it charges the pod.
The FAQ’s “45 to 60 minutes” is a general statement about most devices, with larger-battery models taking longer. It is not a Switch Pro specification.
Why is my Foger pod not charging?
If the bolt never appears with the pod seated, VapeJuice’s fixes are mechanical: rotate the pod slightly so every contact touches, clean the contacts with a cotton swab and a very small amount of rubbing alcohol, and push the pins gently to check they spring back. If the dock’s display stays dark on the cable, the FAQ’s order is cable first, then a wall adapter, then lint in the port. Our guide to a flashing vape that will not work covers what the circuit is refusing, and our USB-C charging piece covers why chargers behave differently.
The FAQ’s handling rules: charge on a flat, hard, non-flammable surface, never unattended or overnight, and unplug once full. Mild warmth is normal; heat that is uncomfortable to hold means unplug at once. If you need to carry a charged device, our piece on flying with a vape covers the travel side.
Questions readers ask
Can I use a Foger Switch Pro pod without the power bank?
Briefly. The fogervapes.com FAQ says each pod carries its own 200 mAh battery, so it fires on its own, but expect a cooler, lighter vape and a much shorter run. It calls this a stopgap for a dock left at home, not a normal way to use the system.
Can I charge a Foger vape without any battery at all?
Not on the two pages read. The pod has no USB port and charges through magnetic contacts on the dock, and the fogervapes.com FAQ says a pod cannot be recharged by itself. With no dock, the only power available is whatever is left in the pod’s own 200 mAh cell.
How long does the Foger vape take to charge?
VapeJuice gives the Switch Pro’s times: a little under an hour for the dock from a USB source, around 20 minutes for the pod through the dock, and a little over an hour for both from flat. The fogervapes.com FAQ’s 45 to 60 minutes is a general figure for most devices.
Why does the lightning bolt keep turning on and off?
VapeJuice says it is normal. The bolt shows on the dock’s display while the dock is charging the pod, and with the pod seated the dock tops up the pod’s cell periodically as you vape, so the icon comes and goes. When it disappears, the pod is fully charged.
